Instructions:

The test you are about to take six questions focused on your behaviour while working in a team. The results of the test will show in which role you perform best for the success of the team.

There are six questions, each with eight possible answers.. For each question, you have a total of 10 points,, which you must assign to one or more of the eight answers. If you identify fully with one answer you should assign it 10 points.

If you identify with more than one answer you should divide the 10 points between them. But avoid a balanced distribution of points. For example, if there are two answers you feel identified with, it’s better to assign 7 points to one and 3 to the other rather than 5 and 5.

When I’m working in a team, what behaviour by other team members bothers me most?

Distribute 10 points
1
Tensions and heated arguments between team members
2
Some team members not being involved in the task
3
Lack of organization and planning in meetings
4
Lack of innovative ideas meaning that projects become monotonous
5
Team members not seeing the impact of their decisions from a wider perspective
6
Carelessness and lack of attention to detail that affect the quality of the outcome
7
Some team members monopolizing the debate
8
Being unwilling to reach a consensus that will allow progress

In the initial phases of the project, for me it’s important to:

Distribute 10 points
1
Spend some time brainstorming
2
Get started as soon as possible to meet tight deadlines
3
Do careful forward planning for each stage of the project
4
Be very clear about the objectives and which tasks will be handled by each team member
5
Adopt a big-picture perspective on the project and its possible consequences
6
Have the necessary resources for the project to succeed
7
Achieve a good working environment and cooperation
8
Be sufficiently informed about the project requirements

When I see that the team isn’t functioning well, what do I do?

Distribute 10 points
1
What I think best and encourage other team members to follow my lead.
2
Reformulate the tasks assigned to each team member
3
Contribute ideas and successful practices observed in other organizations or contexts
4
Reflect on the causes of the breakdown in order to redirect efforts more effectively
5
Encourage the group not to get frustrated by the lack of progress and adopt a positive and assertive attitude
6
I evaluate the different steps and possible omissions that have led to this blockage
7
Look for new ideas, even disruptive ones, to move past the breakdown
8
Reprioritize the stages of the project and make another attempt at the task already in progress

What is my greatest skill when I’m part of a team?

Distribute 10 points
1
I’m very sociable and people want to have me on their team
2
I know how to evaluate the consistency and feasibility of the project by adopting different perspectives (position of the client, supplier, banks and shareholders)
3
I’m very goal oriented and encourage everyone to participate
4
I’m good at meeting deadlines and quality requirements
5
I’m a good negotiator and usually manage to reach agreements that work for the team
6
I’m creative and can envision new ways for the team to succeed
7
I can turn the ideas of the group into action
8
High work capacity and motivation to manage peak workloads

I believe that individual work is better than group work when:

Distribute 10 points
1
Very specialized and high precision work is required
2
We need to reflect on new paradigms or propose new scenarios
3
Tasks are very repetitive and standardized
4
The internal management of a team requires a lot of time in relation to the proposed goals
5
It’s more efficient and productive to work individually (cost savings and economies of scale)
6
It’s easier to assign individual goals than group goals
7
The best practices observed in the past or in other organizations indicate that individual work is more efficient
8
Rarely, because a good team always provides better results by working together than individually

What, in your opinion, are the main reasons that lead prestigious organizations to the failure of business models that have been successful in the past?
